| March 12, 2014

Ahmed A. Busnaina, Ph.D., William Lincoln Smith Chair Professor and Director of NSF Center for High-Rate Nanomanufacturing to speak at ASME Boston event at Northeastern University

Registration and Payment through ASME Boston event site

When: Thursday, March 13, 2014 from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM (EDT)

What: Join ASME Boston on Thursday, March 13 as we meet at the Northeastern University, Shillman Hall where we will learn about the state of the art developments in use of nanoscale offset printing. Our speaker, Ahmed A. Busnaina, Ph.D. will present a concept that constitutes the first step along this path; a scalable multi-scale offset printing that enables the printing of nano, micro or macro-scale structures (in minutes over small or large areas) at room temperature and pressure. The process starts with “inking” of a specially fabricated reusable template using directed assembly of nanoelements from a suspension (ink) that contains nanoparticles, carbon nanotubes or polymers. The second step consists of “printing” where the assembled nanoelements (on the template) are then transferred to another substrate. After the transfer process, the template is ready to be reused immediately in the next assembly process. This process will enable fast economical multiscale printing with the desired nanoscale precision on flexible or hard substrates using templates designed for high-yield and high-rate.

Speaker: Ahmed A. Busnaina, Ph.D. is the William Lincoln Smith Chair Professor and the founding director of the National Science Foundation’s Nanoscale Science and Engineering Center (NSEC) for High-rate Nanomanufacturing and the NSF Center for Nano and Microcontamination Control at Northeastern University, Boston, MA.
